Its' intelligence is very limited and for all intents and purposes is little advanced over the animals in native intelligence. In size the Bugbear is about the height of an average human but is much stronger and incredibly vicious.
IN fact the name BUGBEAR was originally intended to mean GOBLIN BEAR. "The Bugbear is closely related to the Goblin race. I follow the description given by D&D co-author Dave Arneson in his Adventures in Fantasy ruleset. I think they all basically look the same - little ugly men.
